Spring Break!!!

Well, I have some catching up to do....where do I even begin???? I'm taking a lot more credits this semester and have been a lot more busy.......I probably should be studying for a test right now........which is why I haven't kept up. I still love school, though, and am still really happy to be here.

I just got off of Spring Break and want to share all my adventures!!! I was soooooooo excited! I had a countdown on my wall until it. I got to go to Chicago to visit my Daddy with Greg. We got to see all the normal classic Chicago things and we got to enjoy them together. Fantastic!

This is my paper chain count down till Chicago on our fun wall in my room. I am such an Elementary Education major!

Getting to and from Chicago was quite an adventure. On the way there, we found out there was no way that we were going to make it out of the Salt Lake airport (since we were on stand-by) so we left on Saturday and drove six hours to Vegas just to get on an airplane to New York at 4 in the morning, and then on to Chicago, arriving at 10 Chicago time. We went through three time zones...and it was daylight savings...threw our internal clocks for a loop! On the way home, when we checked in, they told us there was no way we were going to make our connection from Cali to Vegas since the plane was going to be late getting into Chicago. We were determined to try to make it, though. We were very grateful we had a back up plan as we watched our plane take off as we were walking towards the gate in Long Beach, California. **Shout out to my mom's JetBlue friend, George, who took us to his house for the night and brought us back in the morning.....very VERY grateful!!!** We got on the flight the next morning to Vegas just fine, ate there, and drove all the way back home, grateful to be there and be able to sleep in our own beds that night. :)
Driving to Vegas.

While we were in Illinois, we had a very fun-packed couple of days. We got in on Sunday morning, and kind of just chilled for the rest of the day. We ate grilled chicken and yummy-ness for lunch (LOVED the home-cooked meal!) and then Connor and I made German Pancakes for dinner...much to Greg's, Ronda's, and Kyle's dismay. :)

We got up on Monday morning and got ready to go downtown. We took the hour-and-a-half train ride down town and when we got there Chicago showed us why it was called "The Windy City." Our first stop was the Sear's (or Willis) tower, and we went all the way up to the top and stood on the observation decks, which protruded from the building and you could see how high up you were. Quite an adventure!

We then walked down Jefferson and ran into Millennium Park. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bean and the fact that there was a couple taking their wedding pictures there....
SUPER ROMANTIC!

We started down the Magnificent Mile, stopping at the very beginning to eat at Jimmy John's. De-lish! We meandered through downtown until we got to the Water Tower Place, where we ate at the spiffy place there and enjoyed the rest. Then we shopped in that mall, where they had a whole store for Lego's. And a Candy store. And my favorite Little Miss Matched!!! Then we went to the REAL Cheesecake Factory and got some cheesecake-to-go since we were stuffed. We
stopped at my favorite church and then wandered back down to the train station. It took all day! We got on our first train at 8:45 and got on the one for home at 6:45...10 hours. We were so tired, we both fell asleep on the train ride home.

The next day we woke up and my Dad took him and I to the Shedd Aquarium, which was a lot bigger than Greg thought it would be. I found my new favorite animal...the Beluga Whale!!! So unique! So cute! We saw a lot of really big fish and sharks and turtles, etc, etc. Before we left downtown for the last time, we HAD to get Chicago-style hotdogs from a street vender. Yummy!

Wednesday was a family day. The whole family stayed home from school/work to spend time with everyone. The weather was so nice that I got to wear shorts. The very first thing we did that day was go to Lou Malnati's, the home of the REAL Chicago- style, deep-dish, pizza. A-Maze-Ing!

Then we went home and played at the beach because it was so warm! The water was freezing, but we kayaked on it anyways! The boys went nuts-o and just dove right into the water. I was enjoying watching them have a water fight until I got dragged in with them. We played a whole lot of volleyball so Connor could make up from missing practice that day, and we even got the parents to play :)

That night we went to Red Robin for dinner, which isn't a "Chicago-place," but Greg had never eaten there and I NEEDED to fix that problem! He loved it because the burgers were "Greg-
sized" AKA: HUGE.

After this wonderful SPRING break, I came back to snow in Cedar....gotta love it! Only half a semester left! :)
Love, Tay
